Middle School

The middle school curriculum provides for a thorough study of the various disciplines, while maintaining the holistic approach of the primary years. It encourages students to realize that solutions to many questions often require insights drawn from various areas of knowledge, and social skills that facilitate cooperation and teamwork. It attempts to foster personal responsibility, sensitivity towards the environment we live in, and openness and tolerance towards different cultural traditions.

The assessment of the students' progress against a set of criteria linked to the objectives of each course informs the teaching and learning process during the year, and students have the opportunity to demonstrate their achievements in final exams. Homework will be given regularly.

Students study the following subjects:
English as the native or "first" language, including literature
French as the foreign language, and/or English as a Second Language for non-native speakers
Mathematics
Integrated Science
Social Studies (History & Geography)
Physical & Health education
Visual Arts & Music
Technology & ICT, in close connection with their uses in the different subjects.

As the school grows, more languages will be offered both at native speaker level (depending on the number of speakers of a given language) and in the foreign languages.
